I became hooked on Oregon wines over twenty years ago when I tasted my first Willamette Valley Pinot Noir.  At the time I didn’t know much about the state let alone the Valley, but I knew that I had come across something special.  Oregon is a spectacular place, with snow-capped mountains, a breath-taking coastline, and an area – the Willamette Valley – that is perfect for producing exceptionally good wines.

The vast majority of winemaking in Oregon is small scale, with wineries typically producing only 5,000 cases per year.  As such, up until now, very little of it has been available in the UK.  That is why I established 99W Wines, to bring some of the best and most exciting Oregon wines over here.  The Willamette Valley AVA (American Viticultural Area) has nine sub-AVAs and our aim is to showcase the variety that these areas provide.

 

Our focus is solely on Oregon and we are very proud to offer the largest selection of Oregon wines in the UK, working with some wonderful wine-making talent.  I have personally chosen all of the wines in our portfolio, after visiting all of the wineries (and many more besides – it’s a tough job…), seeing their operations, and speaking to the wonderful people that run them.
